LG Unveils the Thinnest LCD TV

Friday, December 25, 2009 , Posted by GRT at 6:55 AM

LG recently announced that their latest LCD television panel has broken the 3-millimeter barrier, making it the world's thinnest at 2.6 millimeters (or 0.1 inch).  This panel, according to LC, uses an ultra-slim, edge-lit LED backlight system as well as proprietary optical film technology.
This unveiling comes after LG introduces its 42- and 47-inch LCD TV panels with a thickness of 5.9 millimeters, the thinnest panels at that time.
The 42-inch LCD panel weighs less than 4 kilograms (8.8 pounds), which makes it ideal as a wall-mounted TV.  It also offers 120Hz refresh rate technology with full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution that assures viewers of clear and sharp images.
Both consumers and members of the tech press will have a chance to see this marvel as LG will showcase the product at the upcoming Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early next year.
